Explanation:
Settling and Orienting

Sunshine spilling across a cup of tea and open book, suggesting leisurely learning and enjoyment.

This audio explains what the settling exercise is for, as well as what it is NOT for. Once you have a sense of how it can be useful, you’re welcome to use the exercise recording as often as you’d like. With time, you may notice yourself settling and orienting through your day!

Settling and Orienting Exercise

A photo of a small branch and leaves dappled in sunlight. When we orient to nature, we are practicing coming back to ourselves and our connection to life.

Orienting to the environment is a natural act of a nervous system attempting to discern relative safety or threat.

When we are feeling restless, anxious, or otherwise disconnected from the present moment, intentionally reconnecting to both our surroundings and what is happening within can be a way to come back to the here-and-now to ground ourselves and invite regulation. Listen to the Explanation audio for more information and try the Settling and Orienting exercise for an experiential practice.

Finally, there is no right or wrong way to experience this recording. Take what works for you, leave what doesn’t.
